Abigail Pothen, WHNP, is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner with a special interest in pelvic floor disorders. She brings over five years of experience treating conditions such as urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual health concerns, and pelvic and bladder pain. Although her official certification is in Women’s Health, Abigail is an LGBTQ+ affirming provider who offers gynecological care to anyone with a vagina (AFAB – assigned female at birth). She is committed to creating respectful, inclusive, and safe environments where people of all gender identities and sexual orientations can access high-quality care.
Abigail earned her nursing degree in 2013 and completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Frontier Nursing University in 2019. Prior to joining the Southern Urogyn team, she worked in both urology and urogynecology practices. Abigail is passionate about finding personalized treatment options that best suit each patient. She is especially enthusiastic about therapies such as sacral neuromodulation, Bulkamid, and vaginal estrogen cream—“the solution for so many things!” Her expertise with pessaries has earned her the affectionate nickname "the pessary guru" from some of her patients. Her goal is always to help patients return to the activities they love while deepening their understanding and appreciation of their own bodies.
Outside of her clinical work, Abigail enjoys spending time outdoors with her spouse and daughter, reading fiction, practicing yoga, gardening, and teaching sex education at her daughter’s school.
